REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
New international students are required to go through the registration procedures within the period designated in the Admission Notice.
1. Present the following documents to the International Students Office:
- Passport
- 4 passport-sized photos
- Admission Notice
- JW201 or JW202 Form
- Residence certificate(only for students living off campus)
- Receipts for the application fee and the tuition
- Copy of your insurance policy (if you have already purchased it).
2. Go through the procedures related to Residence Permit, Insurance and physical examination.
3. Complete your registration form and student ID card.
¡ù Those doing degree programs should register for each academic year (usually at the beginning of Sep.).
RESIDENCE PERMIT
The Chinese government issues different visas to foreigners wishing to enter China according to their stated purposes of visit. The visas are marked Chinese phonetic letters of D, Z, X, F, L, G or C; those for international students are marked X or F.
Foreigners coming to China to study for a period of 6 months or more should apply for an X-visa. Those studying for less than 6 months may apply for an F visa. The application form should be submitted together with the Admission Notice and the JW201 or 202 Form issued by a Chinese college or university. A physical examination is required for those applying for an X-visa.
International students should apply for their Residence Permit at the local Public Security Bureau within 30 days after they enter into China (except F-Visa holders). Bring along your passport, Foreigner Application for Residence in China, Admission Notice, JW201 or JW202 Form, Health Certificate and two current passport-sized photos to the Exit and Entry Management Section, Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. The duration of your stay in China will be indicated on the Residence Permit. The Residence Permit could not be extended, you should apply again when it expires.
The International Students Office will assist students who register on time to apply for their residence permit. The cost for the residence permit is RMB400 per year.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
To apply for Residence Permit, you should take a physical examination for a Health Certificate (F-visa holders do not need to undergo this examination). If you are examined in your home country, the exam must take place in a public hospital within 6 months before you come to China. The Physical Examination Record, with your photo affixed and the official stamp of the hospital, must be completed and signed by a medical doctor, and the original laboratory test reports must be attached.
After your arrival in China these health records must be confirmed at the Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. If your physical check-up results are not regular, you must take the examination once again at the aforesaid agency.
You may also take the Physical Examination after you arrive in Beijing. The examination should be attended on an empty stomach and the examination fee is around RMB 350. Those who have passed the examination will receive a Health Certificate from the Bureau.
The International Students Office will assist you to undergo the Physical Examination if you register on time.

INSURANCE
In accordance with the relevant regulations of the People's Republic of China, all international students should take safety insurance for the period of stay in China.
At the present, the University handles this on behalf of the students. Therefore, please make arrangements with the International Students Office when you register. |
